The key to writing a great nonfiction book is to tell a good story that is accurate.  It should be well researched and written.  The first two books I wrote were about my family history that included two separate books, one about my father's family history; and other, my mother's family history.   I had already interviewed my grandparents back in the late 70s and early 80s.  During that time I knew that one day I would write a book on the information they shared with me. But it was not until over two decades after they had passed on that I would actually write the books.  I regret that it took so long for me to write the two books, but it's better late than never.  In 2017, I decided that it was time to tell the story of one of the great newspaper that I worked for, The Indianapolis Recorder.  I was surprised that a newspaper with such a long history had never been written in the form of a book.  There had been many articles written about The Recorder, but none in a book format.  Also, before the long-time publisher Marcus C. Stewart died, he had asked me to write some articles for him on the state of black America.  I never got around to it and he died in 1983 without me ever writing the articles for him.  So, to some degree, writing the book about The Recorder was a way of making up for a failed promised; although Mr. Stewart never lived to see it happen.  However, some of his offspring would be able to enjoy the book which gives a historical look at not only the over 90-year history of the newspaper but also the Stewart family as well.  After completing the book in 2018, it felt as though a big load was uplifted on my back.  However, I enjoyed the time-consuming research and interviews I had with some of the people that were familiar with the newspaper history and some of its characters.  I also was happy that I had a chance to clarify some of the inaccuracies that had been written about The Recorder, such as the year it was established which was in 1897, not 1895.  As for my recent book, Finding Your Fit & Building The Relationship: Online Dating, this was also a fun book to write because I have always been fascinated by the online dating industry and its growth.  It has literally enhanced the way singles meet.  And as I indicated in the book, it has opened up the world to us to meet others that we would not have known existed otherwise.  It is a billion-dollar industry that will continue to grow and evolve.  Also part of my motives for writing the book was to help singles to become more successful in finding their compatible mate and also develop a healthy long-term relationship.
The two-part book is just as more about relationship-building as finding ones mate.  I strongly believe both singles and those already in established relationships will benefit from reading this book.  I also throughout the book share some of my own stories and relationships as they relate to specific chapters.  This is one of those books you will want to keep in your home library for reference purposes.
